Coming up with an effective way to manage images online can be difficult. Many applications allow users to upload photographs and put them into albums, but many do not include detailed sorting features that help users keep their collections organized. PhanFare gives users a way to bring all of their favorite images together online into a single location. The site allows users to keep their digital photo memories at high resolution and makes it easy to access and share them with friends and family. The user gets their own photo website that can be passed along or saved for later. Archives contain images that remain their original size. The user chooses their PhanFare URL and can access unlimited online storage. PhanFare also offers users albums with no advertisements, hosting features, customizable layouts and colors, full screen web slide shows, and no viewer log in requirement.Show more screenshots »
PhanFare was founded by Andrew Erlichson and Mark Heinrich. Based out of Princeton, New Jersey, the team also includes Director of Product Management Ben Gottesman and Director of Customer Support Shannon Walters. The concept behind PhanFare was born out of the need to make storing, managing and sharing of images even easier. Emailed links can be lost and other sources were not as convenient. PhanFare was designed to let users create their own online library of personal memories.
PhanFare offers many helpful services in a way that benefits the user. From unlimited image storage to high resolution and HD options, there is little that a user can’t like about PhanFare. The site gives users many ways to customize their personal image website with color options and user designed layouts. PhanFare also includes the typical photo storage features, such as online slide shows and sharing options that allow users to give friends and family members an opportunity to check out their favorite photographs.
The PhanFare website entices users with a stylish black background and unique yet subdued logo highlighted with hints of blue and green. The application is easy to use and well designed, which encourages users to get creative with their own website layouts and color schemes. PhanFare offers a professional design for a service that is very personal for the user.
A new visitor can become a PhanFare user by clicking on the green “Start Free Trial” button found at the bottom, right hand corner of the homepage. The user is asked to enter a first name, email address, password and desired PhanFare URL. Next the user must select one of two membership plans. No billing information is required for the initial registration (which beings the user’s 14 day free trial period). After submitting the information, the user is taken directly to the account dashboard and can begin uploading photos and accessing PhanFare features.
Initially, PhanFare is free for 14 days. After that the user must select from one of two membership plans. Both plans are paid annually. The first is the PhanFare Premium plan which includes HD photo options, sharing, personalized website, slide shows with music, no advertisements, unlimited photo uploads and more. This membership runs just under $100. Next is the PhanFare Pro plan. This membership costs around $200 per year and upgrades to include revenue earning features that allow the user to sell books, prints, cards and other photo gifts with their uploads.
PhanFare is a valuable service that is great for anyone with many digital images and no where to store them. Even those who have storage can use PhanFare to make it much easier to share photographs online or keep a back up in case the originals are damaged or destroyed.
